Budget 2024-25: Sindh to Provide Free Solar Panels to 2.6 Million Households

The Sindh government announced a significant initiative to provide solar panels free of cost to 2.6 million households across the province.

This was revealed during the budget presentation by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The initiative includes an allocation of Rs25 billion over five years, aimed at distributing solar home systems and promoting clean energy access.

In addition to the solar panel initiative, the chief minister proposed a 25% salary increase for employees in BPS-7 to BPS-16 and a 22% raise for officers in BPS-17 to BPS-22. Furthermore, he announced a 15% increase in pensions for retired Sindh government employees and an adjustment of the minimum wage from Rs35,550 to Rs37,000.

The total budget outlay for the province is estimated at Rs3.056 trillion.
