Warren Buffett is set to postpone his usual mid-year donation to the Gates Foundation due to an ongoing review into its ties with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that the foundation has been embroiled in controversy following revelations of communication between Epstein and the Gates Foundation’s staff, as disclosed by emails released by the US Justice Department in January.
Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, commissioned an external review to assess past foundation engagement with Epstein. The findings are expected later this year.
Buffett is delaying his donation decision until he releases his Thanksgiving letter, according to sources familiar with his plans.
Despite the controversy, Bill Gates has not been accused of any crimes and has expressed regret for any association with Epstein.
