CAA Officers Seek DG’s Resignation

The Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Officers Association has called for the resignation of the Director General (DG) over his inability to revive Pakistani flights to four European countries in the last four years.

In a letter addressed to the aviation secretary, the association expressed disappointment with the DG’s failure to restore Pakistani flights to the four European nations despite the passage of four years.

The suspension of Pakistani flights to European countries has resulted in significant financial losses for the airlines, amounting to billions of rupees. The association emphasized the urgent need for the appointment of a “professional” DG to address the issue effectively.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is poised to lift restrictions on the flight operation of Pakistani aircraft, including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), on European routes.

Sources close to the matter revealed that a crucial meeting of the EASA’s safety board is scheduled for May 2024, where the future of PIA will be a key topic of discussion.
