Cameron’s initial reservations about the Avatar franchise’s financial viability have largely subsided now that The Way of Water has shattered records. He candidly shared his perspective with TVBS News: “The movie business is struggling right now. Avatar 3 was a costly endeavor, but we need to do well in terms of box office success to justify continuing the series.”

He added that he aims to find ways to make future Avatar films less expensive, ensuring sustainability for the franchise without compromising on quality.

While fans were left anxious about the next steps after Cameron’s initial comments hinting at a possible end to the series, these recent developments offer hope and stability. Two additional Avatar movies are set to hit theaters in 2029 and 2031 under Disney’s commitment, although there is no contractual obligation for the studio to produce them.

serves as both an endorsement of Cameron’s creative genius and a testament to his ability to adapt with changing market conditions, paving the way for more thrilling adventures in the Avatar universe.
