Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney congratulated Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his country’s peace efforts that led to a temporary ceasefire and subsequent talks between the United States and Iran. The discussions were held in Islamabad, with both leaders expressing their desire to enhance cooperation in agriculture, clean energy, mines and minerals, and increase Canadian investments in Pakistan during a telephonic conversation.
PM Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Canada’s endorsement of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and highlighted that the US-Iran negotiations represented an important step towards peace. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and PM Carney was invited for an official visit to Pakistan at his convenience.
