Caretaker PM Assures Uninterrupted Power Supply for Karachi in Collaboration with K-Electric

In a meeting with a delegation from K-Electric, led by CEO Moonis Abdullah Alvi, the prime minister directed the Ministry of Energy to engage in mutual consultations to tackle the company’s challenges. Caretaker PM Kakar said that the government would ensure an uninterrupted power supply to Karachi.

PM Kakar emphasized the formulation of policies that consider the purchasing power of electricity consumers and prioritize their welfare. The K-Electric delegation expressed gratitude for the resolution of longstanding issues, including approving a Rs390 billion investment plan, tariffs for 640 megawatts of renewable energy projects, and providing an additional 1000 MW of electricity.

During the meeting, various matters related to K-Electric were discussed, providing insights into the positive impact of government initiatives on investors. The agreements signed between the Pakistan government and K-Electric, addressing long-term disputes, were highlighted as crucial steps toward improving power supply and resolving outstanding issues.

The mediation agreement, one of the signed agreements, aims to clear dues between K-Electric and the government. Caretaker Minister for Energy, Muhammad Ali, congratulated the people of Karachi on these landmark agreements, signaling positive developments in the power sector and fostering collaboration between the government and the city’s primary power provider.
