The (CCP) has approved the acquisition of a liquid carbon dioxide plant by Pak Arab Fertilizers Limited from Pakistan Oxygen Limited. The approval was granted following a Phase-I review under the Competition Act, 2010.
Pak Arab Fertilizers Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, is involved in manufacturing and selling fertilizers and chemicals. Pakistan Oxygen Limited operates in industrial gases and medical equipment markets.
The CCP’s assessment found that the transaction would not significantly alter competitive conditions or create barriers to entry for other market participants. The Commission concluded that the proposed merger does not violate the Competition Act, 2010, thus facilitating legitimate business transactions while protecting competition, market efficiency, and consumer welfare.
