Commenting on the collaboration’s significance, Chairman of CCP, Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, stated that the partnership would enable them to collaboratively examine existing legal and regulatory frameworks and update them according to current market conditions. He highlighted the critical role of ensuring market benefits are shared fairly among consumers and businesses, not concentrated in a few hands, and maintained free from monopolistic or oligopolistic practices.

Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, SDPI’s Director, emphasized that this strategic partnership would furnish SDPI with the necessary analytical insights to support government policymaking. He underscored the potential for joint research projects to outline practical solutions addressing sector-specific challenges and fostering competitive policies conducive to fair, transparent, and efficient markets in Pakistan.

The MoU establishes a robust foundation for cooperation involving research initiatives, knowledge exchanges, and capacity building programs aimed at bolstering competition policy frameworks. The initiative underscores CCP and SDPI’s collective commitment to promoting market environments that prioritize fairness, transparency, and efficiency across all sectors.

Both organizations will work together to foster markets where consumer welfare and business interests are aligned, ensuring sustained growth and development in Pakistan’s economic landscape.
