CD Projekt announced Wednesday that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will receive a third story expansion, titled Songs of the Past. This unexpected return to the decade-old title comes as no surprise given its worldwide sales exceeding 60 million copies.
The expansion, co-developed with Fool’s Theory, is set for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will feature series protagonist Geralt of Rivia and continues a storyline nearly 11 years after the game’s last major expansion, Blood and Wine, which launched in 2016.
Adding Songs of the Past to The Witcher 3’s legacy makes it the third major expansion for this award-winning title from 2015. Following Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, both expansions helped solidify The Witcher 3’s reputation as one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs ever made. Over its lifetime, the game has accumulated over 250 Game of the Year awards and remains one of the best-selling video games of all time, with a total sales figure of roughly 85 million units.
More details on Songs of the Past will be revealed in the summer of 2026.
