Chinese Team Investigates Karachi Suicide Attack Targeting Delegation Near Airport

A high-level team from China has arrived in Karachi to investigate a recent suicide bombing that targeted a Chinese delegation and their security convoy near Jinnah International Airport. The Chinese investigators were promptly briefed by Pakistani officials on the progress of the investigation into the deadly attack.

Security measures at the airport prevented the attacker from entering the premises, forcing him to carry out the bombing at a traffic signal outside the airport. The investigation team has reviewed evidence gathered by Pakistani agencies and is also conducting their own inquiries at the scene.

Authorities have identified the remains at the site as belonging to Shah Fahad, the suspected suicide bomber, based on matching data from Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority. Investigators are currently awaiting forensic results to identify the explosives used in the attack.

The scope of the investigation has expanded, utilizing geo-fencing technology and analyzing call records, alongside the continued interrogation of detained suspects.

The attack, which took place last Sunday, claimed the lives of three individuals, including two Chinese nationals, and left 16 others wounded. The Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade took responsibility for the attack through a social media statement, prompting authorities to file a police case against the group’s leader and their accomplices.
