Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Dominates Oscar Nominations with 13 Nods

Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer dominated the Oscar nominations with an impressive 13 nods, including Best Picture. The movie, a masterly portrait of the father of the atomic bomb, led the pack, followed by "Poor Things" with 11 nominations and Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" with 10.

Despite its high-grossing success, Barbie received eight nominations, missing out on key nods for Greta Gerwig as director and Margot Robbie for Best Actress. Ryan Gosling, a supporting actor nominee for "Barbie," expressed disappointment over the omissions.

Oppenheimer, released on the same day as Barbie, grossed nearly $1 billion and secured nominations for its director Nolan and stars Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and Emily Blunt. The film is considered a frontrunner for Best Picture at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards.

Killers of the Flower Moon, Scorsese's true crime epic, earned 10 nominations, with Lily Gladstone becoming the first Native American nominee for Best Actress. "Poor Things" and "Anatomy of a Fall" also received multiple nominations, contributing to a record year for female directors. Bradley Cooper's "Maestro" garnered three individual nominations, and other notable performers include "The Holdovers" and "American Fiction."

The nominations announcement was hosted by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid in Los Angeles, with actors and filmmakers reacting to the recognition. The 96th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 10
