Bill Clinton denies wrongdoing as grilling over Epstein ties continues

Former US President Bill Clinton faced scrutiny from a Congressional panel this week, specifically regarding his documented ties with Jeffrey Epstein. During Friday’s depositions, Clinton stated emphatically that he severed connections before Epstein’s 2008 conviction for sex offenses.

Clinton remains prominent in the Epstein files but maintains his innocence, asserting, “I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.” His assertion comes as Democrats call on both Trump and Clinton to be questioned. “Let’s be real,” Democrat committee member Suhas Subramanyam stated, “we are talking to the wrong president.”

Clinton’s comments mirror those of his wife, Hillary Clinton, who also testified on Thursday. She called for President Donald Trump, another prominent figure linked with Epstein, to appear before the panel and face questioning under oath.

The grilling, which is taking place behind closed doors at a Republican-led House Oversight Committee, has heightened tensions between Democrats and Republicans. Bill Clinton likened the proceedings to a “kangaroo court,” emphasizing his acknowledgment of extensive interactions with Epstein but insisting he never visited the financier’s private Caribbean island.

While being mentioned in the released documents does not imply guilt, Clinton has not been formally investigated or accused of wrongdoing. The depositions are particularly perilous for Clinton, as he admitted to close associations with Epstein while Trump remains unchallenged despite his known connections to the convicted sex offender.

Epstein’s association with world leaders and celebrities made him a subject of controversy until his death in 2019, ruled a suicide by hanging. The probe into Epstein’s associates continues, raising questions about the power dynamics at play within Clinton’s presidency.
