Council of Islamic Ideology Announces Fitrana and Fidya Rates for Ramazan

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has announced the minimum fitrana (charity) and fidya (compensation) amounts for Ramazan, with Rs220 set as the base contribution per person.

According to CII Chairman Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, the fitrana rates vary based on different staple foods: Rs220 for wheat, Rs450 for barley, Rs1,650 for dates, Rs2,500 for raisins, and Rs5,000 for dried figs (Munakka). He encouraged those with greater financial means to contribute accordingly.

Dr. Naeemi reiterated that paying fitrana is obligatory for every Muslim, regardless of gender or social status.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene in Peshawar on February 28 to observe the sighting of the Ramazan moon. Chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the meeting will begin after the Asr prayer, with zonal committees also gathering across the country to review moon sighting reports. The process will be overseen by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
