On Saturday, an Additional District and Sessions Court ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the iddat case.

The verdict was announced by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, who declared the trial court’s previous decision null and void.

Earlier, a district and sessions court in Islamabad had rejected the pleas of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi seeking suspension of their sentences in the iddat case. Following this, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the sessions court to announce a verdict on Bushra Bibi’s plea for suspension of conviction in the Nikah case within a month.

The recent ruling by Judge Majoka has now overturned the previous decision, leading to the release of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
