Authorities in Bajaur released a list of victims after Afghan forces’ cross-border firing killed nine civilians, including women and children. The Deputy Commissioner’s official record lists the names of those affected to clarify the scale of human loss.

According to statements, mortar shells were fired from Afghanistan into Pakistan during March and April 2026, impacting several Bajaur localities, particularly Mamund and Salarzai tehsils. Residents suffered both fatalities and injuries, with damage reported to residential property in affected villages.

Local authorities deployed emergency response teams and administrative officials following each incident. Security sources stated that the Pakistan Army responded by targeting military positions across the border with precision, avoiding civilian areas during retaliatory action.

The situation has heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where sporadic cross-border incidents have been reported in recent months. Residents have expressed concern over repeated shelling and called for stronger measures to protect civilians living in border regions. Officials noted similar episodes in other frontier districts, including Khyber, Kurram, and North Waziristan, where civilian casualties and property damage were recorded.
