Dar Highlights US, China Ties as Diplomatic Success for Pakistan

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted a five-point agenda for regional peace at a New York dinner hosted by the country’s Permanent Representative to the UN. This event brought together ambassadors from Arab, Islamic, and European countries.

Dar emphasized that Pakistan aims to maintain strong relations with both the US and China, noting China’s public endorsement of Pakistan’s policy. He stressed the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China and urged maintaining good relations with major powers globally.

Dar is set to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington today, focusing on Middle Eastern issues like Palestine, as well as diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability. In a separate meeting with António Guterres, discussions covered UN Security Council reforms, the Jammu and Kashmir issue, and situations in Afghanistan and Palestine.

Guterres commended Pakistan’s significant role in promoting global peace and security at the dinner.
