The sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” titled “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” was premiered in Europe, offering a fresh look at the original film’s flash and fashion while reflecting changes in today’s media landscape. Directed by David Frankel from a new screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna, the sequel sees Anne Hathaway reprise her role as Andy Sachs, who is laid off from her journalism job and reunites with her boss, Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly.

Miranda Priestly’s “Runway” magazine faces challenges due to the digital age and decline of print media. Streep noted that these changes underpin much of the film’s narrative, exploring how characters adapt to a new business environment. Unlike its predecessor based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, this sequel features an original storyline with McKenna emphasizing themes relevant in today’s economic climate.

Hathaway expressed her enthusiasm for reuniting with the original team, while Streep joked about her own specific demands, including no heels over four inches. Stanley Tucci returns as Nigel, Priestly’s loyal assistant, and Emily Blunt plays a new role for Emily, who has ascended in the fashion industry. The film also includes appearances by Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is set to begin its global theatrical release on April 29.
