There is a scene in “The Housemaid,” a film that has dominated the box office, between Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone. However, it was axed from the final edit upon release.

Director Paul Feig recently revealed the reasons behind this omission. During test screenings for the psychological thriller drama, audiences demonstrated less interest in the scene featuring the two stars. This led to its removal from the film’s final cut.

Feig explained, “When you’re putting a movie together and doing your test screenings, you find out there are certain moments when people want to be with one character or another. In this case, we had to lose that specific scene.”

Yet, he also expressed hope that the audience response might change for the better in future installments of the franchise. “If there’s an [upcoming film], it probably will come back in a sequel if audiences choose to go see it and make this happen,” Feig said.

“The Housemaid” has proven a significant hit at the box office, raking in over $300 million since its release last year.
