Donald Trump Pledges to End Birthright Citizenship

US President-elect Donald Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to making significant changes after assuming office on January 20, including ending birthright citizenship and deporting illegal immigrants.

In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump reiterated his campaign promises, stating, “We will have to do it,” when asked about deporting illegal immigrants during his term. He also emphasized his intention to end birthright citizenship, challenging its foundation in the US Constitution.

Trump criticized the policy, arguing that the automatic granting of citizenship to children born on American soil, regardless of their parents’ legal status, should be revised. He suggested exploring administrative actions to achieve this change quickly.

Additionally, Trump pledged to extend tax cuts from his first term and announced plans to pardon individuals convicted in connection with the January 6 Capitol Hill attack, calling their prison treatment excessively harsh.
