DPM Dar Visits New York for UNSC Debate Ahead of May 26-28 Stay

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is set to arrive in New York for an official visit from May 26 to May 28. During his stay, he will participate in a high-level United Nations Security Council (UNSC) open debate under China’s presidency.

The UNSC open debate, titled “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centered International System,” is expected to focus on regional and international developments. Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various countries and senior United Nations officials.

Upon arrival in New York, Dar was received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and Consul General Aamer Ahmad Atozai. He is also expected to attend a meeting of the Group of Friends on Global Governance on May 28 under the theme “Reforming and Improving Global Governance, Working Together to Address Global Challenges.”
