Dubai government announces enhanced media monitoring measures

The Dubai government has introduced stronger media monitoring systems and a new framework for temporary media permits. Media Regulatory Office CEO Al Marri stated that frameworks and guidelines are being improved to uphold professional standards and prevent misinformation. The new temporary permit system will facilitate both local and international media operations in a more regulated environment.

The review highlighted 24-hour media monitoring, rapid response to misinformation, and unified multilingual communication as key strategies. Various entities including the Dubai Media Council, Government of Dubai Media Office, Dubai Press Club, Brand Dubai, and Dubai Media Incorporated are collaborating to promote transparent, swift, and responsible communication. No specific fines or penalties were disclosed, but the emphasis is on stricter monitoring, regulation, and an organized permit system. Officials emphasized the importance of transparency, professional responsibility, and timely official communication for a reliable information environment in the emirate.
