Eddie Murphy recently opened up about valuable advice from James Brown on Apple TV+’s Number One on the Call Sheet.
Murphy recalled how Brown, who died at 73 in December 2006 due to congestive heart failure from pneumonia complications, advised him to stop cursing. The late musician told Murphy, “You want to be in this business a long time? You can stop that cursing.”
Brown continued his mentorship by guiding Murphy throughout his career. He emphasized the importance of financial security and suggested burying money in the woods if one has it.
Murphy shared that Brown’s advice about keeping wealth secure was deeply ingrained in him, as he believed the government would take any land but not necessarily know where the hidden money was.
