State media outlets relayed the grim news Sunday, with Xinhua News Agency detailing that authorities had detained the company’s legal representative and initiated an investigation team.

The incident transpired at Jiapeng Biotechnology, situated within a secluded valley where dark yellow smoke ascended from the site following the explosion in its early hours. Despite efforts to reach out, Reuters was unable to secure details or contact information for the troubled firm.
