Encroachment on Parking Spaces Imtiaz Store, Madina Mall Basements Sealed

In a decisive move against encroachments, district administration and the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) have sealed the basements of several buildings in various parts of Karachi. This action aims to improve traffic flow and eliminate encroachments on parking spaces.

Details reveal that the basement of the Imitaz Store on Rashid Minhas Road has been sealed. Similarly, basements of the Hashmi centre and Madina Plaza buildings in the Saddar area have also been closed off. These buildings had unauthorized constructions on their parking spaces, disrupting traffic flow in the city.

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi commented on the actions, stating that these measures will help improve traffic flow. “Restoring parking spaces will enhance traffic movement. We are committed to reinstating parking areas in all commercial buildings,” he said.

The SBCA has issued warning notices to the affected buildings, stating that further action will be taken if the seals are broken. The district administration has also submitted a report on these actions to the Karachi Commissioner.

According to traffic police recommendations, the first phase will involve restoring parking spaces in 31 buildings. This step is part of broader efforts to address parking shortages and traffic congestion across the city.

These actions reflect significant efforts to tackle parking issues and encroachments, demonstrating a commitment to improving urban infrastructure and providing better facilities for residents.
