Former Senator Taj Afridi Killed in Motorway Accident

Former senator Taj Afridi was killed on Friday in a traffic accident on Motorway M-1 while traveling from Islamabad to Peshawar. Sources say a suspected mechanical failure caused his vehicle to crash, resulting in Afridi’s immediate death and injuries to his driver.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafee Jan expressed deep grief over Afridi’s death, conveying condolences to the bereaved family. He also wished the injured driver a swift recovery and noted that Afridi’s political and social contributions would long be remembered.

The former senator’s passing has drawn an outpouring of condolences from political and civil society circles.
