Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) plans action against non-filers

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to take action against those who do not file tax returns but appear wealthy on social media. Notices will be issued, requiring individuals to provide details about their income, assets, and sources of funds.

Officials said the FBR has collected extensive data on such individuals with help from NADRA. In the first phase, affected individuals can regularize their tax affairs by submitting returns by September 30. Failure to comply may lead to legal action.

This move is part of the FBR’s efforts to expand its tax base and bring financially stable individuals into the system who are not currently reflected in tax records.
