The Federal Cabinet has approved “Operation Azm-e-Istahkam,” a new anti-militancy initiative, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, which reviewed an 11-point agenda, significant discussions and approvals took place. Sources indicate that the cabinet endorsed the decisions of the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan and formally approved the operation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that “Operation Azm-e-Istahkam” differs from previous operations and assured the public that there will be no inconvenience during its implementation.

This decision follows the Apex Committee’s approval of the military operation last Saturday, marking a reinvigorated national counter-terrorism effort to intensify actions against militants targeting Pakistan.

The federal cabinet also reviewed the National Economic Council’s annual report for the fiscal year 2022-23 and ratified decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases (CCLC), and the Cabinet Committee on Government-Owned Enterprises.
