Festival Accidents Claim One Life, Leave Six Injured in Lahore

One person died and six others were injured on Friday during the ongoing Basant festival in Lahore. The twenty-five-year-old Ali Rashid Kati lost his life after climbing an electric pole near the Sikh Canal to fly a kite, resulting in electrocution. Rescue officials have handed over his body to his family.

Among those injured, three were children: one child was hurt after a kite string got caught around his neck while flying a kite in Gulshan Ravi; another fell from a roof in the Ravi Road area, sustaining injuries. In Lower Mall, a twelve-year-old boy named Abdul Wahid sustained injuries during kite-flying, and a fourteen-year-old boy from Gulshan Ravi was also hurt.

A forty-five-year-old man named Shabbir suffered injuries when his kite string snapped while flying in Gulshan Ravi; rescue efforts are ongoing for another youth who was hurt in Defence Phase 5 due to a broken string. Authorities have reminded citizens to follow safety guidelines during Basant to prevent accidents.
