Five people killed, two injured in Hanwha Aerospace factory fire
South Korean authorities are conducting an official investigation into a fire at a Hanwha Aerospace factory in Daejeon. The explosion that sparked the blaze has yet to be determined as its cause.
Two survivors managed to escape from the facility, including one badly burned individual. However, identifying the victims remains difficult due to severe damage of their bodies.
Hanwha Aerospace produces large propulsion engines and handles rocket propellants at its Daejeon factory. The plant’s layout is protected under national security laws, preventing authorities from obtaining detailed information about it.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung called for mobilization of all available resources to respond to the accident and for a thorough investigation into the cause.
