In Chiniot, a somber community gathered near the canal where five-year-old Azaan’s body had been found. His parents and siblings were in tears, demanding answers from local officials who quickly arrived on the scene.

A kidnapping case was originally registered when Azaan vanished while playing outside his home. During a public protest, Lyallpur Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Abid Hussain Zafar addressed the distraught family, assuring them that their son’s disappearance was under investigation and not to be taken lightly.

The body was subsequently transported to Allied Hospital for an autopsy. Some police officials suggested the death might have been accidental, while others pushed for a more serious investigation. According to these officers, a Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code could cover such incidents.

Azaan’s parents remained steadfast in their belief that swift action by authorities could have prevented this tragedy. They were met with a mix of sympathy and skepticism from law enforcement, who acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations but also sought clarity before any further charges were pressed.

The incident highlighted the urgent need for improved child safety measures and vigilance in communities like Islampura, where such tragedies are all too common. As investigations progressed, both families and local authorities worked tirelessly to uncover the full extent of what had transpired on that fateful day.
