RAWALPINDI: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan received medical treatment in jail after his right eye vision was affected, sources familiar with the matter reported. Specialist doctors from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) visited Adiala Jail and examined Khan, who was administered an injection as part of initial treatment to prevent further deterioration.
Additional security measures were put in place at PIMS hospital for potential transfer if needed. Dr Muhammad Arif, head of PIMS Ophthalmology Department, advised that Khan might require hospitalization for better care. However, jail authorities believed treatment could continue inside the prison for the time being.
Social media reports suggesting a transfer had caused confusion but no move took place according to sources. Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said party members and his family were concerned about Khan’s health status. At a press conference in Islamabad with other PTI leaders, he demanded immediate access to see the former premier.
Khan has been held at Adiala Jail since his conviction in politically motivated cases that he claims are unjust.
