President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh has formed a high-profile think tank comprising leading economic experts, governance specialists, industrialists, entrepreneurs, investors, and exporters.
The think tank, named FPCCI’s Think Tank on Pakistan’s Economic Revival & Growth (FPCCI-PERG), will be chaired by Dr. Gohar Ejaz, former caretaker federal minister for finance, revenue, and investments. Sheikh emphasized the unity of Pakistan’s business, industry, and trade community in striving for the economic revival of the country.
As the apex body, FPCCI has gathered a distinguished group of Pakistan’s brightest minds to contribute to this effort.
The members of FPCCI-PERG include prominent figures such as veteran industrialist Bashir Jan Mohammad, capital markets expert Arif Habib, serial entrepreneur Mohammad Ali Tabba, and former Presidents of FPCCI Mian Muhammad Idrees and Ghazanfar Bilour.
Other members include top exporter Dr. Nouman Idrees Butt, CEO of TDAP Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of APTMA Asif Inam, and former president of Lahore Chamber Shahzad Ali Malik. Additional members like Shahid Abdullah, Fawad Mukhtar, Maqsood Ismail, Farooq Naseem, and Shahzad Asghar Ali will also contribute to FPCCI-PERG.
The think tank’s core values will be in-depth analysis and informed discourse. The objectives of FPCCI-PERG include conducting research on economic challenges and opportunities, formulating evidence-based policy recommendations for sustainable economic growth, and facilitating dialogue among policymakers, industry, academia, and civil society.
Atif Ikram Sheikh further said that the think tank will ensure representation from all major sectors and industrial regions of Pakistan.
FPCCI is prepared to initiate a consultative process with the government on the federal budget 2024-25 and the charter of the economy based on the recommendations of its think tank.
