Gabrielle Union recently opened up to PEOPLE magazine about her enduring friendship with Kirsten Dunst, 25 years after their breakthrough role in the film “Bring It On.”
The 53-year-old American actress and model shared that she and Dunst, a co-star from the 2000 teen comedy directed by Peyton Reed, are still “growing up together.”
Union, who portrayed Isis in the film alongside Kirsten Dunst’s character, Torrance Shipman, said they have kept in touch over the years. She noted that their kids, being around the same age, often share friends and this has brought them closer again.
Currently, Union is a mother to 7-year-old daughter Kaavia and stepmother to her husband Dwyane Wade’s three older children—Zaire Wade (23), Zaya Wade (18), and Xavier Wade (12). On the other hand, Dunst welcomed two sons—Ennis Howard Plemons (7) and James Robert Plemons (4)—with actor Jesse Plemons.
Union explained that when they filmed “Bring It On,” Dunst was still a child actress. Discussing her children’s decisions, Union said, “We were talking about some of her mom’s choices and how she was raised, and what you take with you through life.”
“This reminds us we’re all growing up together,” Union added, emphasizing their shared journey despite the generational gap between them.
