Chairman of the Senate, Yousaf Raza Gillani, expressed warm felicitations on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan to the Australian government and populace at an Australia Day in Spring reception held at the official residence of the Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane.
The event was attended by diplomats, parliamentarians, senior officials, business leaders, civil society members, and distinguished guests. Gillani highlighted the historic roots of Pakistan-Australia relations, noting that officers from the Australian Defence Forces received training at Quetta’s Command and Staff College as early as 1907.
He emphasized that both nations enjoy strong bilateral ties based on shared democratic values and a commitment to peace and international order. The Senate Chairman expressed confidence in the enduring growth of Pakistan-Australia friendship and called for closer parliamentary, economic, and cultural engagement between the two countries for a peaceful and prosperous future.
