Meta’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, are currently experiencing a widespread outage, leaving users unable to access their accounts. Many users have reported being abruptly signed out of their accounts, while others encounter error messages indicating a failure to load.
The outage appears to be affecting users globally, with complaints pouring in from around the world. DownDetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, reported over 44,000 outages at 10:13 a.m., indicating the scale of the issue.
Additionally, apps associated with Meta’s platforms are also experiencing disruptions, compounding the inconvenience for users.
There were more than 300,000 reports of outages for Facebook, while there were more than 20,000 reports for Instagram, according to the website, which tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources, including users.
This time around, Threads is included and also appears to be completely down. When opening the app on a mobile device, it displays an error message that says, “Sorry, something went wrong. Try again.” However, WhatsApp is working without an issue.
Cybersecurity and internet governance monitor NetBlocks confirms that Meta platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads, are currently facing outages related to login sessions across multiple countries. NetBlocks clarified that this incident is not linked to country-level internet disruptions or filtering.
Meta communications head Andy Stone confirmed the issue, tweeting on X that the company is “aware people are having trouble accessing our services,” adding that Meta is “working on this now.”
