Authorities have launched an expanded investigation into alleged fake degrees and financial irregularities at Gomal University after 514 suspicious degrees were identified. The university’s syndicate has suspended the former Director of Affiliations following this discovery.
Further disciplinary action is expected as investigations continue, with key officials linked to the alleged fake degree scandal facing scrutiny. Financial mismanagement and irregularities are also under review, dating back to 2019-2023.
The new investigation committee aims to accelerate accountability efforts at the university. Provincial authorities have tightened oversight of higher education institutions in response to this scandal.
Provincial Higher Education Minister Meena Khan Afridi has pledged to eliminate corruption and fake degree networks from the higher education sector. She warned that those involved would face strict action, emphasizing continued accountability measures under Chief Minister Sohel Afridi’s leadership.
