Government Denies Military-Ordered Evacuation Reports in Tirah Valley

The federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Armed Forces have firmly rejected claims that they had ordered residents of Tirah Valley to evacuate. In a statement released by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government categorically denied any such orders and emphasized that all related rumors are baseless and misleading.

According to the ministry, these allegations aim to create fear and panic among the public, spread misinformation about security institutions, and serve personal or political interests. The government further stated that it has taken specific measures to ensure civilian safety during operations against militant elements.

The statement clarified that no evacuation orders have been issued for Tirah Valley. Security agencies conduct targeted operations based on intelligence gathered, ensuring minimal disruption of the daily routines of civilians involved in such actions. The government also emphasized that there is neither a requirement nor an ongoing process of forced displacement or population relocation associated with these operations.

Local residents themselves expressed concern regarding militant presence and their desire for peace and stability. In response to this sentiment, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Relief, Rehabilitation, and Settlement Department issued a notification on December 26, 2025, outlining specific measures for advance preparedness and relief in case of any potential, temporary, and voluntary movement from certain areas.

These measures include arrangements for transportation, food supply, cash assistance, establishment of temporary accommodation and registration centers. The document further clarifies that the voluntary movements reflect the views and wishes of local populations as expressed through representative jirgas, considering factors such as weather conditions, administrative capacity, and other local considerations.

The government underscored that any connection between this voluntary process and security forces is entirely false, fabricated, and made in bad faith. Such statements are aimed at gaining political advantage and seeking to malign security institutions, according to the government’s assertion.
