Govt Declares February 8 as National Day of Mourning for Aga Khan IV

Flags to Fly at Half-Mast as Nation Pays Tribute

The government of Pakistan has declared February 8 a national day of mourning to coincide with the funeral of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community.

A government notification confirmed that flags at all government buildings across the country would be flown at half-mast on the day.

“Expressing profound grief on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan on the sad demise of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Prime Minister has declared a Day of National Mourning in Pakistan on Saturday, the 8th of February, 2025, on the occasion of the funeral of His Highness,” the notification stated.

Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslims, passed away on February 4, prompting an outpouring of grief from millions of his followers worldwide.
