The federal government has announced an increase in electricity prices by Rs 1.74 per unit, effective immediately.
According to the official notification, this adjustment will affect all electricity consumers, including those served by Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and K-Electric.
This price hike, part of a quarterly adjustment, is expected to add an additional financial burden of Rs 43.23 billion on consumers. The revised rates will apply to bills for the months of September, October, and November.

The decision comes shortly after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a quarterly adjustment of Rs 1.75 per unit, which was forwarded to the federal government on September 6.
