Adding to the financial strain on the public already grappling with inflation, the federal government has hiked electricity prices by more than Rs 3 per unit, as confirmed by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
NEPRA’s decision to increase electricity rates by Rs 3.25 per unit has been forwarded to the federal government, imposing an additional burden of 46 billion rupees on consumers.
This decision comes after NEPRA’s deliberation on May 30 regarding the Central Power Purchasing Agency’s (CPPA) request to raise electricity prices by Rs 3.49 per unit in the April fuel adjustment.
