Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar announced on Monday that the government has decided to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar stated that the government has the authority to ban a party involved in anti-state activities under Article 17.

“PTI and Pakistan cannot go forward together,” Tarar declared. “No more. Enough is enough. They have played with the country’s fate too much,” he added.

Tarar mentioned that the ban on PTI will be discussed at the next cabinet meeting. Additionally, he said a reference will be filed against Arif Alvi, Imran Khan, and Qasim Suri under Article 6.

He provided examples such as the foreign funding case and the May 9 riots as evidence of PTI’s involvement in anti-state activities. He alleged that PTI received foreign funding from India and Israel and accused its leaders of strengthening “anti-state forces.”

Tarar indicated that legal action will be taken against all individuals involved, including the seizure of passports and other strict measures. He also mentioned that the government plans to file a review petition in the reserved seats case.
