Govt to Repatriate Afghan Refugees from Islamabad, Rawalpindi

The federal government has decided to repatriate registered Afghan refugees from Islamabad and Rawalpindi as part of a phased repatriation plan, with relocation set for March 31.

According to a Prime Minister’s House notification, Proof of Registration (PoR) cardholders will not be forcibly evicted. Around 2 million Afghan refugees currently reside in Pakistan, including 1.3 million PoR cardholders and 700,000 Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders.

The government has extended the stay of PoR cardholders until June, while the Foreign Ministry is coordinating with international organizations to manage the process.
