Greenwich University has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with ARY Digital Network, marking a significant step toward reshaping media education in Pakistan through a formal academic–industry partnership. The agreement was signed at the university’s Karachi campus by Vice Chancellor Dr. Seema Mughal and Salman Iqbal, President and Chief Executive Officer of ARY Digital Network and ARY Group. The ceremony underscored what both sides described as a shared commitment to integrating academic rigor with practical industry training.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two institutions will establish Pakistan’s first co-branded media studies institution. The new initiative, to be known as the ARY School of Media Studies, will operate within Greenwich University and offer undergraduate and graduate programs designed jointly by academic and industry experts. The curriculum will be aligned with evolving industry standards, ensuring students receive both theoretical foundations and real-world exposure.
The partnership is intended to narrow the long-standing gap between classroom instruction and professional media practice. A central feature of the agreement is an exclusive traineeship program led by ARY Digital Network. The program will provide selected students with hands-on training for three consecutive summer terms. At least 15 students will be chosen each year to participate, gaining direct experience inside one of Pakistan’s leading broadcast networks.
Despite the collaboration, Greenwich University will retain academic autonomy and the ability to pursue partnerships with other media organizations outside the scope of the ARY School of Media Studies. To oversee implementation, the two sides will establish a joint coordination committee responsible for planning, execution, and evaluation of initiatives under the agreement. University leaders described the partnership as a strategic milestone that strengthens professional pathways for students while setting a new benchmark for media education in Pakistan.
