Petroleum Prices Falling, Levy Abolished Urged
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, stated global petroleum prices are falling. He called for the government to abolish petroleum levy immediately.
Rehman proposed reducing petrol price by Rs 122 instead of just Rs 22. He urged the government to set maximum petrol price at Rs 250 per litre for next two years.
He argued using petroleum levy for taxes burdens public and harms economy. Rehman also emphasized need to reject IMF demands, vowing Jamaat-e-Islami’s ongoing fight against inflation and rising prices.
