Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry declared menopause as an “upgrade” in her life rather than a “downgrade,” according to a published keynote address. The 59-year-old star revealed she modified her diet and workout routine after menopause began.
Berry, known for her role as Catwoman, emphasized how she altered her eating habits post-menopause, which previously focused more on protein. She now incorporates more carbs and fiber into her meals. Additionally, she needed to lift heavier weights than before, a change from previous cardio-centric workouts.
Berry explained, “It helped me sleep a little better. I was a bit less moody. I could remember things a little better.” However, she added, “Hormones only were as effective as my body was healthy.”
The actress noted that these changes made her feel like she had entered the “better version” of herself. Berry insisted, “We often think we’re getting older and downgrading, but it’s not so. We’re upgrading ourselves with evidence-based therapies and information to support this new body.”
Berry’s perspective counters common perceptions about menopause as a decline in health. Instead, she sees it as an opportunity for transformation that leads to one’s optimal state of being.
