Heavy Snowstorm Hits Moscow
Muscovites awoke Monday to find their city blanketed in snow, an event highly unusual for late April. Numerous trees broke under the weight of wet snow and strong winds, causing damage to nearby cars.
“Good morning, not so good unfortunately,” said Alexander, one of the drivers whose car was damaged by a fallen tree. Navigating through the city proved challenging due to slippery surfaces caused by wet snow and ice.
Over 50 flights were cancelled at Moscow’s airports due to poor visibility and strong winds. Emergency services have declared an “orange” weather threat level, with 50 settlements in the region experiencing power outages. No official reports of injuries have been made yet.
The snow and rain are expected to continue for another day, according to forecasts, before temperatures return to normal.
