Hugh Jackman portrayed monster hunter Gabriel Van Helsing in 2004’s Van Helsing. He also played P.T. Barnum in 2017’s The Greatest Showman. However, it was the allure of broken antiheroes that most captivated him.

In an interview with People, Jackman said, “I am fascinated by them.” This fascination began in his childhood when he pondered characters like Han Solo from Star Wars. He recalled being intrigued by who Han Solo truly was.

Jackman also cited Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven as a significant influence on his acting career. As he ages, he is increasingly drawn to the complexities of human nature rather than simplistic portrayals.

His latest role as Robin Hood bears striking similarities to his portrayal of Wolverine in 2017’s Logan. Jackman noted that he had considerable input into the direction of Logan and believes this new film takes it even further. The Death of Robin Hood is now playing in cinemas.
