ISLAMABAD: The Hyderabad franchise has announced the direct signing of Australia’s top-order batter Marnus Labuschagne for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, marking a significant statement of intent ahead of the tournament.
Labuschagne, one of Australia’s most consistent performers across formats in recent years, will represent Hyderabad in PSL 11, the franchise confirmed in a statement. His signing makes him one of the highest-profile overseas players to join the league’s expanded lineup.
The Hyderabad team is among the new franchises introduced as part of the Pakistan Super League’s expansion for its 11th edition, aimed at broadening the tournament’s footprint and bringing top-tier cricket to more regions of the country.
The franchise has been acquired by the US-based FKS Group, led by Fawad Sarwar, which also owns the Chicago Kingsmen cricket team in the United States. Officials say the focus is on building a competitive squad combining international experience with emerging Pakistani talent.
Labuschagne’s inclusion is expected to significantly strengthen Hyderabad’s batting unit. Known for his adaptability, strong temperament, and ability to anchor innings, the Australian batter has also shown growing impact in T20 cricket around the world.
Franchise officials said the direct signing reflects their ambition to compete strongly in their debut season and attract fans by fielding globally recognized players.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has welcomed the addition of new teams and international stars, saying PSL 11 will be the biggest edition of the league so far in terms of scale, reach, and competition.
Further details regarding Hyderabad’s squad, coaching staff, and leadership group are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as preparations for PSL 11 gather pace.
