Pakistan, Egypt Launch Counter-Terrorism Exercise Thunder-II

Pakistan and Egypt initiated their joint military exercise “Thunder-II” on Monday. The two-week drill aims at enhancing capabilities for counter-terrorism operations and deepening defense cooperation between the nations.

The exercise began on April 6, 2026, at the Special Operations School in Cherat, as per Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Troops from Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) and Egyptian Army’s Special Forces are participating.

Commandant of the Special Operations School, Cherat, attended the opening ceremony as chief guest. ISPR stated that the exercise is designed to improve professional skills through coordinated training and provide an opportunity for strengthening military-to-military relations between the two friendly nations. The troops are expected to benefit from exchanging operational experience and expertise in counter-terrorism operations.
