Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister and former PTI leader, expressed her immense joy upon receiving news that her brother had been granted permission to speak with his sons. This significant development emerged following the Supreme Court’s directive on a report suggesting Imran’s severe vision loss.

On Thursday, Salman Safdar, Imran’s lawyer, submitted evidence indicating that the former prime minister had nearly lost 85% of his right eye’s sight. The court ordered a medical team to examine him and authorized him to converse with his children for at least 20 minutes. Aleema confirmed this development on her social media post.

Kasim and Sulaiman, Imran’s sons, reported that their father was delighted upon hearing their voices after an extended period of not being able to meet them in person due to his incarceration. The brothers have previously stated that they had been unable to visit him since he was arrested.

On Thursday, Kasim expressed the situation as a direct result of prolonged solitary confinement and inadequate medical care. He emphasized that reports indicated only 15% vision remained in Imran’s right eye and attributed this severe condition to nearly nine hundred days spent in isolation.

Aleema underscored the urgency for immediate specialist treatment at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad, warning against any further delays. She argued that such delays have already caused damage to his eyesight. She emphasized their desire to prevent any irreversible vision loss by ensuring that Imran receives prompt and professional medical attention under expert supervision.

Additionally, Aleema’s sons have complained of continuous denial of a visa to visit their father due to deteriorating health conditions. They hold the regime responsible for the ongoing delays in receiving proper care. The brothers claim this is yet another form of cruel oppression by those in power who manipulate and distort justice systems.

Aleema’s statement underscores the pressing need for swift, dedicated medical intervention. As time progresses without these critical steps being taken, there could be irreversible damage to Imran’s sight. Immediate action is imperative not only for his immediate survival but also for future generations he might have with his sons.
